Hypnotherapy (gentle positive suggestion: conscious, subconscious and unconscious)

… can be described as a relaxation with focus on a problem and thus a reduction of stress levels associated with the problem, integrating a process of retrieval, resolution and re-education with realistic positive suggestions for old outdated memories, traumas, negative and distressing emotions.

Aims of Hypnotherapy:  The aim of hypnotherapy is to increase your confidence level as an individual and teach you an attitude of hope in the context of mastery.  You will learn to be an active participant on your own behalf, to focus on creating a solution rather than enduring a problem and to discover the use of neglected resources to effect the changes sought.

Methods of Hypnotherapy Therapeutically:

  • Ego Strengthening Model:  The main endeavour here is to use ego-strengthening, confidence-building suggestions to help you feel more self-worth, become more self-confident, more capable of dealing effectively with problems and to increase your feelings of self-esteem so that challenges are readily undertaken, and perceived problems or changes are confidential dealt with.
  • Symptom Removal by Direct Suggestion:  Here the therapeutic effort is directed at removing, altering, or alleviating specific physical or emotional symptoms by direct suggestion.  Unwanted habits can be removed, and pain controlled if you are strongly motivated to be free of the symptoms.
  • Dynamic Insight Methods:  Again, the aims are symptom relief and ego-strengthening, however, special methods are used to help you identify and understand the long-standing causal effects that have crated and maintained the problem/s.  In a safe environment you can be encouraged to investigate, recognise and work through underlying conflicts to achieve a greater shift towards becoming a more integrated personality.
  • A mind body approach is key with regards to what presents as a physical illness with physical symptoms where emotional behavioural effects stem from the presence of illness or trauma and in turn contribute to the progress of the condition.  Equally, it is also felt the case that all psychological disorders and problems have a physical involvement.

The above is a brief summary of what the Hypnotherapy process consists of.  Different issues may benefit from any of the above singularly or integrated.  You can contact me for a free telephone consultation to talk more about your personal situation where we can discuss you own personal therapeutic pathway forward.
